Ms. Galene G. Martinez
Introduction
I am the Instrumental Music Director at El Camino Real High School. The 2010 school year will be my first year at ECRHS, and am very excited to start a new chapter of my teaching career at ECRHS. I have been teaching with LAUSD since 1996, starting with Traveling Elementary Orchestra for 3 years, then moving to Robert Fulton Middle School in 1999 where I was for 5 years, until I moved to Northridge Academy High School in 2004 when the school opened. I have a BA in Music from UC Berkeley, and a Single Subject Professional Clear Credential in Music with a CLAD certificate & supplemental authorization in Computer Concepts and Applications from CSU Northridge. I am currently finishing my MA in Music Education at CSUN.
Educational Philosophy
No matter if a student chooses to become a musician as a lifetime career, or just a consumer of music during their lifetime, the basic fundamentals and foundations of music should be taught to and experienced by all students in school, as music is an integral part of human nature and development. My job is to further a young person’s knowledge, not only of music, but also of art, and education in order to help make the student into a more informed and productive person in our society.
